For a few years, Autodesk offered "Revit + Advance Steel" as the replacement for ASD. The issue? ASD 2015 was lightweight. The current combo is heavy, expensive (subscription only), and requires more VRAM.
Another notable feature was the reinforcement verifier, which checked for collisions between rebars, embed plates, and ducts. In complex intersections like beam-column joints, this automated clash detection prevented the infamous "rebar congestion" that leads to honeycombing in concrete.
